Understanding processing fees

Know exactly what fees apply to card payments.

Processing fees explained

When clients pay by card, there's a small fee to process the payment.

Fee rates

PlanProcessing fee
Free3% + 20p
Pro2.5% + 20p

Example

If a client pays £100:

  • Free plan: Fee is £3.20 (3% + 20p), you receive £96.80
  • Pro plan: Fee is £2.70 (2.5% + 20p), you receive £97.30

  • Bank transfers = no fees

If clients pay by bank transfer, there are no processing fees. You receive the full amount.

    Who pays the fee?

By default, you absorb the fee. But you can pass fees to clients if you prefer—they'll pay the amount due plus the fee.

Set this in Settings → Payments → Fee handling

    Why are there fees?

    Card payment fees cover:

  • Secure payment processing
  • Fraud protection
  • Instant payment confirmation
  • Automatic record keeping

  • Minimising fees

    • Upgrade to Pro for lower rates
    • Offer bank transfer as an option
    • Pass fees to clients (optional)
